  • Abstract:

Seismic methods play a pivotal role in subsurface imaging, offering high-resolution insights essential for geological and geophysical exploration. This talk provides a comprehensive overview of the seismic tool as a primary geophysical technique, outlining the fundamental principles of seismic wave propagation and reflection. The presentation will cover the workflow from data acquisition, including survey design and field operations, through processing steps such as deconvolution, migration, and filtering, to interpretation methods. Emphasis will be placed on how seismic data are utilized to delineate structural features—such as faults and folds—as well as stratigraphic elements like unconformities and depositional sequences. By integrating seismic data with geological knowledge, the talk highlights the value of seismic imaging in reducing subsurface uncertainty and guiding exploration and development strategies.
