  • Submarine channels are erosional features in marine environments that have huge importance in the hydrocarbon industry. The effect of the reactivated Parihaka Fault on the development of submarine channels in the Parihaka 3D seismic volume is studied by combining analysis on the kinematic evolution of the Parihaka Fault with seismic attribute-based observations on channel evolution. The Parihaka Fault plays an important role in channel development by providing accommodation space, diverting the flow path of channels and confining channels. A simplified geological model of one specific channel complex system is used to test the influence of fault activity on channel evolution with the GPM software.
